Maine Healing Arts Festival

The Maine Healing Arts Festival makes a great labor day transition from summer to fall.
A great mini-vacation in Maine, sans hotel!

There are daily classes on massage, meditation, and other alternative health and spiritual practices, gourmet vegetarian meals, drumming, an authentic Native American sweat lodge, and a firewalk. In addition there are many other unscheduled activities to choose from such as hot tub, clothes-optional beach and sauna (very 60's), and a supervised play area for children.

The Maine Healing Arts Festival begins on Friday evening of Labor day weekend, when people begin arriving and conversing lightly. Around 8 PM the rapidly growing community gathers in the gym. The presenters are introduced, we sing, then the drumming and dancing begin. There are classes on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday if you're interested, or you can just spend a lot of time at the beach/sauna playing naked in the sun. (Bring sunblock for those usually unexposed aspects of self!) Saturday night features the Native American sweatlodge for adults and storytime with Fox for those younger at heart. Sunday night is the firewalk (along with a second round of even more intense drumming). By 3PM Monday everyone is saying goodbye and going home.

HAF is worth the money just for the excellent company of like minded people, the great food, lodging, drumming, and firewalk. There is so much more, though, that you will get your money's worth.

Registration costs $265 for the entire Labor day weekend, including room, board, and all activities. If you are interested in attending the Maine Healing Arts Festival contact:
